Copper bottle guide

Copper Bottle Sizes: 500 ml, 1 Litre or 2 Litre?

For one adult, 1 litre is the right size: it holds about a day’s copper-stored water and fits on a bedside table. Choose 500 ml if you only want a glass or two in the morning, and 1.5–2 litres or a copper jug if two people share one vessel. Bigger isn’t better: water should be drunk within a day, not kept for days.

How much copper water a day?

About one litre a day of copper-stored water is a sensible habit for an adult, with the rest of your water from steel or glass. Copper is an essential mineral; the US NIH sets the adult upper limit at 10 mg a day from all sources, and water stored in copper at room temperature carries only a small fraction of that. Size the bottle to what you’ll drink in a day, then empty, rinse and refill.

Size and cleaning

  • Bigger bottles are harder to reach inside: use a long bottle brush for anything over 1 litre.
  • A wider mouth makes the weekly lemon-and-salt clean much easier.
  • Large vessels are heavier when full; a jug with a handle is easier to pour from than a big bottle.

Bottle with glasses

A 1 litre bottle with two glasses is a popular bedside set: you pour straight into copper and the whole ritual lives in one place. It’s also the size most people give as a gift.

Frequently asked questions

Which copper bottle size is best?

1 litre for one adult; 500 ml for a morning-only habit; 1.5–2 litres or a jug for two or more people.

Is a 1 litre copper bottle enough for a day?

Yes. About one litre of copper-stored water a day is a sensible amount; drink the rest from steel or glass.

Should I buy a 2 litre copper bottle?

Only if two people share it. Water should be drunk within a day, so a bigger bottle for one person isn’t useful.
